Ever wonder what kind of gear we use and what it's for? Here's a glossary of terms and gear!

EMF Meter: EMF meters are used to detect fluctuations in the electro magnetic field, or EMF. Many believe that these fluctuations could be the result of paranormal activity. NKYPG uses two types of these: The Tri-Field Meter, which is one of the more popular models, and the K2 which uses LED lights and is very sensitive.

Thermal Scanner: The thermal scanner uses an IR laser to detect the air temperature. It's used to detect "cold spots" which are believed to be caused by spirits drawing the energy, and therefore heat, out of the air in order to manifest.

Digital Recorder with Microphone: These devices are used to pick up EVPs (Elecronic Voice Phenomena), which are disembodied voices heard on the recording that were not heard by ear during the investigation.

Camera: We use both 35mm and digital cameras, as well as camcorders. They help document the area of an investigation and try to provide proof of the paranormal. (Note: Orbs are NOT paranormal phenomena.)

Pen and Paper: These good old fashioned tools are used to document everything that happens in the investigation, from research to the actual on-the-site hunting.

Dowsing Rods: These are sometimes used like the EMF meter, but were originally invented to help people find water or other flowing sources of energy.

Motion Detector: This is used to detect motion that we wouldn't be able to see otherwise.

Flashlight: A handy little invention used to see in the dark.

IR Cameras and DVR: These are used to record video in night vision mode. We can watch what's being recorded in the dark, and record the video onto our system at the same time.

Intelligent Haunting: A haunting in which an entity is aware and capable of interacting with its surroundings.

Residual Haunting: A haunting in which an entity is unaware of its surroundings and plays over and over again like a recording. It is not aware of the living.
